Discussing reviewer's critical comments-PHASE GRADIOMETER |
PROPOSAL TITLE: Novel quantum phenomena in superconducting devices having sub-10-nm dimensions REVIEW#4, CRITCAL COMMENT #1 1. The phase gradiometer for which preliminary data are shown in Fig. 12 is a case in point. First, I am not sure that the oscillations in the resistance of the interferometer are due to the phase induced along the superconductor by the supercurrent. It may be that the oscillations are simply due to the flux generated at the loop by the supercurrent. A similar situation occurred in the experiments on Andreev interferometers by Petrashov's group, where it was first claimed that this was a phase gradient effect, but later generally accepted that this was simply a flux effect...

RE: Discussing reviewer's critical comments-PHASE GRADIOMETER |
Fig.12 discussed in the review is shown here: http://www.nanogallery.info/filez/FIGURE%2012%20FROM%20NSF%20PROPOSAL.jpg The oscillation presented in Fig.12 is, in fact, related to the current-induced phase gradient. This is proven by the fact that the period of this oscillation is temperature-dependent. More details are given in our new manuscript: http://www.nanogallery.info/filez/ix_28b_1aa.pdf
