How Thin Superconducting Wires can speed up computers |
Possible applications of superconducting nanowires is the subject of this thread. How the wires can speed up future computers, if they can? How can they be used of detecting single photons? Can superconducting nanowires (SNW) be used to make low-loss cables for saving energy?

RE: How Thin Superconducting Wires can speed up computers |
| One idea of using SNW was proposed recently by Mooij and Harmans for Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. They argue that SNW can be used to build novel types of qubits. Such MH qubits, if they work as expected, can serve as building blocks for quantum computers. Quantum computers are expected to be faster than present-day classical computers for certain applications. |
